Possums are cool 👍

They/Them dumbass
Same account as before by the way. It is not impossible to have a captive kept opossum to be at a good health and weight with enough restrictions to their diet. These babies are far too overweight you can quite literally see their legs unable to support them under this account on several occasions

comments are not helpful either,, and also just, very few… Like, hello??? Is this lil critter ok??

Yep, she does not seem intent in giving them a good full life. I can assure that healthy senior opossums DO NOT look like this. And there’s such a stark difference between what she feeds joeys and grown adults.

Actually decent food to GARBAGE. It is awful.

And well, opossums are loved by the internet. But it’s always these opossums in worse conditions for life, unable to move or care for themselves. When there is SO many other content creators with older opossums in a happy weight and size.

She has treadmills, clearly a huge ranch, has harnesses and leashes for them, etc. But why is it that almost always when there is a fully grown opossum its this overweight? Did some deep digging and found one post of a decently older possum in good health. ONE.

Her commenting to people insisting they get a good diet when she posts videos of them getting cheese treats or clearly chunks of hamburger. And the thing is. She has a lot of tools at her disposal to treat them well that she has posted herself.

This isn’t cute, this isn’t goofy. These opossums have fat deposits so enlarged it is pushing against their skull and FORCING itself out of their eyes, covering them and making them risk being BLINDED. And she has comments that talk about this or people asking for ADVICE on it

Opossums are VERY prone to getting heavy easily, because of their slow metabolism and ingesting heavy and fatty foods, even as a treat, can greatly affect them. Dolly has had many opossums in her care with these bug eyes and has constantly shown them off as “super cute” when it isn’t

And there’s a big misconception that this is “inevitable” when it comes to captive possums. However, it is PRONE to happen, not inevitable!!! This can be prevented as long as they are exercised and given a good fiber heavy diet.

These opossums are SUFFERING. You can see so many videos under her account struggling to groom, walk, even just pick up food! It is genuinely disheartening to see them like this when there is proof of captive opossums not overweight and lived full lives

One such person is Neelydollyleah, who has had their entire account history of opossums that are overweight, struggling to even eat and move, and seen given poor foods (doesnt matter if its a treat! Still a no no food!) to them when dolly has a lot of resources to give them better.

And this is NOT a hate thread. I get they are a small group and small groups can make poor decisions, but I feel like it isn’t comforting from a disabled person’s POV seeing people’s concerns from the previous event and people passing out is getting brushed under the rug.

Like, has this been addressed? Well we don’t fkin know since its all deleted.
Their response about the june event has been completely deleted from their insta, I cannot find it. And various posts concerning about the heat, the wait line, has also been scrubbed. Which makes the group look suspect

June’s #goblinmarket was awful and borderline dangerous from how hot it was. *I* almost passed out from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Someone was hospitalized, and wheelchair users could not move around at all in the event.

I DO appreciate that they rented out bigger space that is also an RSVP event which means limited space and less risk of overcrowding. But that shouldn’t come at the cost of brushing away disabled people’s concerns and worries.

Like I get wanting to start taking steps in the right direction and not letting past errors bring you down, but deleting and wiping disabled people’s points and criticisms that are valid and also was a huge health risk for them at that event is mad weird.
