#japanuary25d31 To Visit List

Next stop is Kyushu. I have wanted to go to Nagasaki for a long time and I will visit when I am on my study trip in Fukuoka. I have also made sure there is time to see a few theme parks on the way as there are so many rollercoasters to try.

Streets and Alleys
Random streets from my trip. The first and last are in Tokyo and the middle is Kawagoe

#japanuary25d28 Off the golden route
I was mostly in the Tokyo area. The first area outside of Tokyo was in Kawagoe. It was pretty busy but still fun. A city known for their sweet potatoes. The second is Ome. Technically a suburb of Tokyo but barely any tourists and it's beautiful.

#japanuary25d27 Tokyo
I discovered a lot of Tokyo but still so much more to see. Yanaka Ginza,Shinsoji Temple in Sugamo, the view from Odaiba and the swan boats in Ueno park.

#japanuary25d26 Worth the hype
Sensoji Temple. I almost didn't go because I thought it was a tourist trap but I am glad I saw it. Even though it was very busy there were still quiet spots and the temple was beautiful.

#japanuary25d25 Must try snacks

I have to eat gluten free, but I found a surprising amount of cute and tasty snacks. The cookie and the bunny bread were from Rizriant in Kichijoji. The nuggets and dip were from 2foods at Tokyo station but that location is now closed I think.

#japanuary25d24 Greenery

There was so much greenery even though I was there in January. The torii gates mixed with the trees at Nezu shrine, a park with a pond near Imperial Palace and Ueno park

Japanuary25d23 Something fun
Eating this weird but tasty sweet potato pudding in Kawagoe, visiting 6%DokiDoki and Alice on Wednesday in Harajuku and seeing Luffy in Shibuya

#japanuary25d22 Exploring
I found a lot of things by just walking around. Walking from one site to another helped me find things I would of otherwise missed.

#japanuary25d20 Money Related Tips
I kept my 100yen coins for vending machines and for a good gachapon machine I might stumble upon. I also made sure I had extra money on my pasmo card because I could use it at conbini and even coin lockers if I was running low on cash.

#japanuary25d19 Kawaii
There were so many cute things in Tokyo. My favorites were the Yanaka Ginza cats, a random King Kong on a combini and Pokemon everywhere.

#japanuary25d17 Underrated
Just around the corner from the popular Gotokuji Temple, was the Setagaya Hachimingu Shrine. It was very pretty and no one was there. It was so peaceful and I could take my time to explore.

#Japanuary25d15 Train tips
I used Google maps for train schedules and to know where to go for platforms. I did have a few hiccups where I got on a limited express train without realizing I had to purchase another ticket. I also sat down in a green car by mistake and was asked to relocate.

#japanuary25d14 What surprised you in Japan
I was surprised by the amount of green spaces even in a busy city like Tokyo. From gardens on rooftops like Meguro Sky garden, to the grounds of Meiji Shrine or
Inokashira park, I enjoyed them all.

#Japanuary25d13 Souvenirs
I only bought a few things for myself. I packed carry on only, so I had very little space. The pressed coin is my favorite. I try to find one everywhere I travel to.

Happy Memories
I saw so many things while I was in Japan. My favorite memories were the quieter ones like finding a park full of plum blossoms, walking Todoroki gorge, finding a peaceful part that's off to the side of Sensoji Temple and seeing Ueno park at night.

#Japanuary25d11 Planning Tips
I booked must see things in advance like Disney Sea for a specific day, but I left the other days open. I had researched what I wanted to see and where they were located. I could then choose what I wanted to see depending on crowds, weather and how I was feeling.

#Japanuary25 Day 10, Hidden spots
While walking from Shimokitazawa to Meguro Sky Garden, I found a path that ran between houses and had a little stream running along it. In some parts it even had Koi fish. It was a neat discovery, and more peaceful than walking on the busy sidewalk

#japanuary Day 8: On a budget.
I explored a lot of the parks, shrines, temples and even malls. There was always so much to see for free.

What a view. This is in a park in Ome which is not far from Tokyo but it feels completely different.

One of the things I love about Japan are the juxtapositions. New with old, nature within the city.

My favorite memory of 2024. Sitting on a bench, eating ice cream, with my family while watching the water on Pelee Island
