Surviving, maybe thriving. We'll see. She/her. I live in the PNW. I'm a weirdo with a lot of hobbies.
It's slime mold and jelly fungus time! This might be witch's butter or Dacrymyces chrysospermus. It's from a park down the street that I took my dog to today. 🌱

It's raining buckets today and I'm thinking of all the forest fungi that are getting soaked and slimey, like this parasol (Chlorophyllum, dunno the species) I saw earlier in the week. 🌱

A huge patch of Zeller's boletes popped up in the woods near my house yesterday, and by this afternoon they were all gone! I'm glad I took pictures. 🌱

What's funny about this article is that two out of the three examples in the intro are from New Yorkers who voted for Mamdani despite their reservations about his inexperience.

Is it just me or is it eerie the way the anti-Mamdani and anti-Wilson arguments mirror each order?

I love this time of year in the PNW! It's still warm and sunny out but not as bright.

Too bad I didn't water well this summer. 😅 Though maybe my dahlias will reward me anyway and pump out more blooms. 🌱

Taylor Tomlinson is exquisite in her new Save Me tour!! I'm so glad I went. This is how close we were to the stage!

You're allowed to take a walk with the dogs on a beautiful Saturday evening, eating raspberries and huckleberries while watching golden light shine down on the forest, nobody can stop you

I've embraced the bunnies. The one pictured here has been named Frankie, after Rosalind Franklin. 🌱

Turns out I haven't been seeing prairie dogs in our campground but instead Columbian ground squirrels. I'm bummed!

A baby bunny is living under the wood shed and comes out to snack in the garden at least twice a day. Honestly I'm okay with it. We're leaving him little treats in the hope of making friends. 🌱

The columbines are doing so well this year! I'm noticing new colors too, like this deep dark purple. 🌱

Saturdays are for naps.
May 17, 2025 at 7:17 PM
I also need to show off the trillium I saw today! This is on the West Tiger Mountain trail in Washington State. I'm pretty sure these are all trillium ovatum. 🌱

I picked my first wild mushrooms today! These are oysters. I originally thought they were angel wings; the physical appearance is rather similar. I cooked some with my dinner!! 🌱
May 16, 2025 at 1:56 AM
I found these mushrooms in the woods yesterday. I think they're agrocybe praecox or spring fieldcap! 🌱

I bought a single raspberry plant last year and it didn't really do much. I'm hoping it's happier here, with two more plants I bought last weekend. 🌱

It's not visible in the photo but my dog is laying on one of her fav toys. We both love spring! 🌱

Happy plant sale day! If you're in the Seattle area, the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club has our annual sale from 9am-12pmish at United Methodist Church. Here's what I grew/propagated -- nearly everything we sell is grown by members! 🌱

It's getting to be the end of tulip season! I think the varieties here are Gudoshnik Double (red and orange) and Double Late 'Double You' (pink). I also threw in a columbine stem and a couple of fringecups. 🌱
May 2, 2025 at 2:28 PM
I'm really happy with how this mostly shady spot in the backyard is doing! It's a mix of mostly thimbleberry, hellebore, columbine, fringecup, and foxglove. Plus two weeds lol, creeping buttercup and knotted cranesbill.

The anemones I planted in January are about to bloom! 😲 I thought all the corns were eaten by squirrels... What a relief. 🌱

I shot about 4500 photos, still culling through them all. Here are a few more I edited onsite!

US Quadball held their national championship this past weekend, with nearly 60 teams competing in 4 divisions. Y'all might have the sport on ESPN lately, and on @newheightsofficial.bsky.social!

My native bees are here! I installed their house on a part of the fence in the backyard that gets morning sun. Up first is Mason bees. Later in the summer I'll release leaf cutter bees. 🌱
