yeah i’m also skeptical someone pays that price (unless very desperate at the end of the window). i think if he doesn’t go this summer, to your point, there’s a good chance to bank a profit next summer partially because i think he’d still end up playing a lot for chelsea this season.

not sure how likely that deal will be cheaper, chelsea don’t need to sell and the reporting has been it’ll take about 80m to get him

no argument there for tonight, but i’d say even my own divisiveness about him is that its also an issue that these plays are more or less the only way to get *some* level of positive impact from him and even tonight he’s been mostly dealt with

totally agree on the current GK situation and milan clown show. i’d probably feel like 20m is the absolute max for what i’d say is a reasonable deal from a Chelsea perspective

the only argument i sympathize with is unsettling the GK room. i don’t think it makes sense to overpay to sign a player for a few years just to win a couple games this month. and just because they’ve spent money poorly in the past doesn’t mean they should potentially do it again at a smaller scale

one year left on his contact, at end or past his prime years so no resale value, and hasn’t been in great form the past 2 seasons. they probably continue discussions with milan over the next 2 weeks but no reason to just cave on a price that milan won’t be getting from a single other team
