During Feb 1995 the nor'easter turned my HS's fields into a sheet of thick ice that I could skate on. I would grab my walkman with Anthology and go out in the darkness of the night, with this endless surface underneath me, one of the best memories I have of skating

It's definitely not being called equally across the disciplines. If ICE DANCERS, whose whole job it is to do the silly turns, are getting L1s, I find it incredibly hard to believe the singles skaters are doing them well enough to justify StSq4s, you know?

When you add speed and space, the turn SHOULD lose the fidelity of what it would be in the compulsory figures context. So to see these judges asking for this much precision suggests the element as envisioned in this context is flawed on premise

I was talking about this in my lesson today with my coach. I can do rocker and counters in all the directions and edges just fine on a circle at a controlled speed, but when I speed them up and lose the pattern, it's impossible. And these people are better than me, so I have some empathy

IDK, if no one is getting those edges right, not even the best in the world, then the issue is not the skater, it's the element and what the judges deem acceptable. Not to mention that these are turns that were called in previous seasons!

I'm sitting here wondering if the system went down and nope, they just started judging the next event. i'm sure that skater from the previous one would love their score!
