Lore. Rushed the details on this one. I’ll do Data better one day.

I love Phoenix Park. Every time I come here I feel this sense of peace. Over my first three years, I’d walk the park wondering: is there any chance I’d get to stay, or would it be something I’d reminisce about?

Now, I feel settled. And every time I walk here I’m so grateful for everything.

I guess it’s somewhat true that you have to stand outside of something to truly appreciate it. At the end of the world, of course zombies would be most likely to fully consider humanness. A surprisingly poignant reflection on memory and (un)life.

(Also, there’s a Fitzcarraldo edition?! Nice.)

Another fantastic novel about loss and grief. Stunning, sad, beautifully written. Looking forward to more of whatever Armfield publishes in the future.

I’ve never read King Lear (dropped an MA course in Shakespeare like it was a rock). Fortunately didn’t harm my enjoyment of this queer take on the tale. Amazing prose, dystopic climate collapse, all around weird and intriguing. Will look forward to more from Armfield. 4.5/5

A young woman from the modern human world trapped in a time loop in a fantasy realm who decides after a thousand years of dying while trying to stop the Dark Lord...she's going to become the Dark Lord instead. A little too cringe for this ace reader, but I'll probably check out the sequel. 2.5/5
