It’s Daggercard update time.

📇 All your cards are now saved (locally, in the browser) and easy to return to.
📚 You can use the official adversaries from the Daggerheart’s SRD.
✍️ You can copy an existing card and customise it further.

Go make some adversaries at daggercard.tellstorypress.com

I thought it would be nice to have physical adversary cards, with checkable resources, so I made a tool for creating adversary cards for Daggerheart TTRPG from @darringtonpress.bsky.social.

If you would like to create a custom adversary card, or ten, it’s available at daggercard.tellstorypress.com

Penpot Desktop now lets you open a file’s view mode in a new window and can auto-reload the view when the @penpot.app file changes.

They are available as independent options and off by default, so make sure to check out the settings after the update to 0.21.0.

Local instance updating is live.

In the local instance creator, you can now 📝 edit a local instance's settings and ⬆ upgrade it to the newest @penpot.app version.

You can find details and get the version 0.19.0 from the release page: github.com/author-more/...

I have an idea for a content management system plugin for @penpot.app.

Below is a video with a PoC:
- 🧱 batch item creation from a data set,
- ↔️ two-way editing,
- 🏷️ layer name based content pairing - the project works without the plugin.

How do you use view mode in @penpot.app?

Here is a proof of concept of an auto-reload for the view window. Once the file changes are saved, Penpot Desktop would refresh the view for you.

You can now specify the @penpot.app version of the local instance to create.

It defaults to the “latest”, but any valid Penpot Docker repository tag should work, with suggestions for ten of the most recent tags.

You can now download all your @penpot.app projects at once, with Penpot Desktop.

Open the dashboard, click “Download all projects”, specify the path and the archive name, and wait for the download to complete.

A new feature for the Penpot Desktop is in the works. Can you spot the change in the @penpot.app UI?
June 4, 2025 at 11:13 AM
You can now enable the native title bar for your Penpot Desktop window.

It is a new option in the settings panel, set to “overlay” by default, and a change takes effect after a restart.

Available in version 0.15 on its release page github.com/author-more/... and in the Flathub store.

Penpot Desktop can now set up a local @penpot.app instance for you.

Launch creator, name your instance, click “Create”.

⚠️ It’s an experimental feature.
🪟 Windows is supported, but untested.
🛡️ Requires a non-sandbox environment.

Next in Penpot Desktop: one more step towards a seamless offline experience. With a click of a magic wand, you will be able to set up a local @penpot.app instance.

It requires @docker.com and will launch as an experimental feature.

A new, mysterious button showed up in the settings during the Penpot Desktop development. What could it be doing with @penpot.app?

Recently, I learnt that in VS Code, you can have inline Git blame info without needing any extensions.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Search for "Git blame".
3. Tick the box for "Git › Blame › Editor Decoration”.

Or you can set "git.blame.editorDecoration.enabled" to `true` in the Settings JSON.

Enjoy.

The new UI is live!

Penpot Desktop v0.12 features a refreshed, unified look, improved color coding for instances, and a design that matches @penpot.app official style for a distraction-free working experience.

Get it from the release page github.com/author-more/... or find it in the Flathub store.

The new tab design is almost ready. Some of the incoming changes are:
- Colour coding is consistent across themes.
- A tab's background colour is tinted with its instance's assigned colour.
- The tab opening menu features colour coding.

The settings panel is complete.

If you see anything you would like to improve, please share your thoughts. While larger changes will have to wait until the next iteration, I'm happy to address smaller issues or suggestions before the release.

It's time to tackle the top bar now.

The new look for Penpot Desktop is in the works.

It introduces dedicated palettes for both light and dark modes, each designed to match @penpot.app's official colours for the distraction-free working experience.

Support for multiple instances is live in Penpot Desktop.

You can now open multiple @penpot.app instances simultaneously, each displayed in its own colour-coded tab.

Penpot Desktop v0.11 is available at github.com/author-more/... and from the Flathub app store.

We are approaching a big milestone for the Penpot Desktop’s Q1 cycle!

The multiple instances feature now has end-to-end UI support (tabs, opening, and management settings), for your ease of use and control.

I’m focusing on QA and polishing to ensure it runs smoothly. Stay tuned for the release!

You will soon be able to use multiple instances at once in Penpot Desktop.

Here is a prototype view with different instances open in their own, colour-coded tabs. The menu is part of the ‘+’ (add tab) button. On the side, a representation from the settings file, introduced in the last version.
February 6, 2025 at 5:05 PM
Move, sync, share, back-up. The file based settings are locked in for the next Penpot Desktop release.

With the multi-instance support, coming soon, a file will keep instances details in your user directory.
January 22, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Themes are coming to Penpot Desktop.

Available options will be light, dark, system, and penpot. With the “penpot” setting, Penpot Desktop will follow your theme preference from the active tab with a @penpot.app.
December 19, 2024 at 11:11 AM
The tab menu is ready. It will go live in the next Penpot Desktop release.

You will be able to manage your tabs more easily - reload, duplicate, batch close.
