Horror hound. Books, movies, tv, games, toys, Halloween, etc.
Alex Grecian’s ‘Red Rabbit.’ Love weird west! Rollicking and fun, it didn’t spook me as a horror tale, but your mileage may vary. Loved the characters. Not 1 death felt disposable. So much bloodshed, but lighthearted at times and bittersweet. For fans of R.S. Belcher ‘Golgotha’ books & Deadlands RPG

SO GOOD. Christina Henry’s ‘Near the Bone’. Mattie lives a secluded mountain life with her husband. He treats her with horror enough. Then a creature and strangers hunting it disrupt their existence. Mattie’s fight for survival and her journey to discovery is already horrific. But the horror grows.

Wanted to finish the weekend strong with 1 more read so I polished off Steph Nelson’s ‘Sawtooth’ in one sitting. Not the tense creature feature gorefest fight-for-survival I wanted it to be… this book is still an amazing tale of surviving guilt, grief, & the damage we do to ourselves & those we love

Just finished these three books over the weekend. All good. Ben Farthing is the master of the weird, liminal horror-with-a-heart. Stephen Graham Jones loses me a little at times but ultimately writes a badass lead heroine and a great tale of terror.

This was an insane and insanely fun watch. It just kept getting more and more unhinged and more than one jumpscare EARNED my scream. Might be a new favorite of mine.

There’s too much to say and not enough characters to say it. Grady Hendrix. Favorite author. This book is beautiful. Horrifying not from monsters but from people. The witches just add an extra dimension. Cried at the end. Hendrix hasn’t failed me yet. Read it.

Pleasantly surprised by Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Enjoyed the hell out of it, tbh. Nice to see a smaller Hellboy tale with noir & southern gothic feel. Jack Kesy’s Big Red was true to the core of HB, fun and funny. Felt like the finale needed some more oomph, but a small gripe.

Do yourself a favor and read some David Sodergren. “Rotten Tommy” is gory and disturbing, but it has heart. It also features a protagonist with autism that doesn’t make the plot entirely about THAT. It’s just who she is. It’s a very cool analog/mascot horror and Tommy is a bad BAD dude. Read it.

End of the road but loved this journey. Gwendy’s new challenges make for a difficult read. Emotional, suspenseful, horrific. FIRMLY in Dark Tower continuity. Releasing all 3 books in 1 vol. this year. That’s how this should be read. #horrorbooks #stephenking #richardchizmar #booklover

I just happen to own a vintage Halloween skull decoration that appeared both in the first Halloween episode of Roseanne (‘Boo!’) AND Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. He may be a celebrity but I just call him Skully.

I make my own bookmarks in PowerPoint, print them off and laminate them. Here are some examples. Some dedicated to favorite authors, one dedicated to horror comics, and one was just a bunch of horror books I liked in 2024. These feel more personal than the ones in the store. #horrorbooks #booklover

Finished Gwendy’s Magic Feather earlier tonight. So good! I made me appreciate the first book more. Definitely can’t wait to finish the final book in the trilogy.
