I think voting for Trump or not voting at all was counterproductive. I don't support formalized dispossession. But here we are, dummy.

I do wish California's politics were more moderate. But what I have no interest in is Louisiana deciding what's best for California. We can make our own decisions.

The fact that Speaker Johnson wants to condition our GETTING BACK our own money from the feds on accepting mandates made up by people we would never vote for is all you need to know

Please recognize that California pays way more into the federal treasury than it ever gets back. So any FEMA aid is literally just getting our money back.

My point was simply that California while deeply flawed was capable of independent governance. And Speaker Johnson made my point for me this week when he raised the idea of conditioning FEMA money on California accepting federal mandates.

I wonder why you spend so much time worrying about California. How much time do you worry about Texas fucking up their grid to the point that Texans froze to death two winters ago?
January 15, 2025 at 8:01 PM
Whether or not California would benefit from more moderate policies was never the question. This started with your inane assertion that California was a failing state. It's the most prosperous state.

Try actually data. California is the largest state. That means more Americans choose to live there than any other state. We have an affordability crisis, we have regulatory issues, etc. And some people are leaving. It its swollen 15% larger than the next state, you muppet

Your counter is that some fire hydrants didn't work. Go back to Twitter with your fact free ass.

Please Google "Peter Thiel and California" He owns the President Elect and is an arch conservative. Even he admits California has a prohibitive advantage over every other state.

Yep. The history of California leading the country in GDP and hosting every major new technology of the last 59 years. Brother, Texas is a petrochemical state and Florida is a swamp.

Dictionaries are your friend.

California is a massive wealth machine. It's much richer than Texas. And it will continue to be.
January 10, 2025 at 4:38 AM
I agree with all these facts. It's just silly to think population churn at the margins matters. This isn't an argument that California shouldn't moderate its politics. I think we should. It's an argument that California really doesn't need the United States. We don't

Every company driving the S&P the last 10 years was founded and remains mostly in California. Read less about politics and pick up the WSJ
January 10, 2025 at 2:19 AM
Texas had a massive regulatory failure that led to people freezing to death due to a grid failure. Every state has challenges. But California remains capable of independent operation.
January 10, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Read the first post. California has churn and a million issues (including an affordability crisis). It doesn't change the fundamentals. Churn is a weird way to evaluate the strength of a society. It's not like California is hemorrhaging population.

But I'm thrilled you don't get it. BY ALL MEANS STAY AWAY.

California should absolutely be its own country. And it has nothing to do with whomever is President. It's the fucking size of Paraguay, it can feed itself, it has several seapors, its own embassies, and a small navy. It's the only biome with a Mediterranean climate on the continent.
January 10, 2025 at 12:12 AM
Friend, California has population churn and tons of problems. But it's the fifth largest economy in the world, the hub of most future facing tech, and it gets 88 cents back for every dollar it's puts in the federal treasury.
