Hope I’m doing good as Ripley though. As said before, first time writing a Marvel character in the main comics continuity. I feel like I’m just finding my rhythm atm.

❝ So there’s sending more of you spiders after me? That’s just… peachy I guess. ❞
Star grumbled, leaning against a graffitied wall. Dealing with just one arachnid was enough, but two? Were they about to send an entire spider-army after her?
That sounded like a headache….

❝ Ugh… Why can’t you just take a hint already?! You really don’t know when to give up… ❞
Her head whipped around to see the wall-crawler in her vicinity. Was he really about to try taking her in again? Maybe with a little speech on the side?
Please.

❝ You…. You remind me of someone. ❞
Those were the words that exited her lips when she first gazed upon Mary Marvel. It was not a sense she could place, but rather a guttural reaction.
She didn’t care at the moment if she sounded like a total psycho. She had to say it.

❝ It’s… it’s in the water, just lemme… lemme catch my… ❞
Star muttered, rolling her hand towards the river, awaiting whatever magic show Diana had planned. But this part? The exhaustion. The toll on her body. It never seemed to get easier.
If anything, she always felt a little weaker.

The girl gave a heavy groan as the feat put strain and stress on her muscles. She asked for strength that exceeded the locust’s, but not for the power required for this kind of task.

Before reeling her arm back up for a punch, she whispered just beneath her breath…
❝ 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐭… ❞
…and causing a massive collision with the beast’s cheek, sending it reeling back in pain and, with hope, making it relinquish Diana from it’s jawed hold.

Came a mutter from the caped woman. This optimistic warrior seemed to have the wrong idea. And who could blame her based on the shiny, heroic outfit.

So 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁?
I’m still basically a god in human skin, I’m still better than 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 and despite everything, I’m still kicking.
So, if anyone out there wants to try and lecture me, how I’m playing with power I don’t understand, how I’m too weak to handle it…
I’ll make ‘em eat their own words.

And yet, they keep throwing it in my face that I’m anything but experienced with this gift. Part of me wishes they’d shut up. Another knows they’re right.
