I have definitely mixed regular quilting cotton with batiks (and I believe that last time I did it, it was with Kona) and it worked well. Try using a stitch length of 2.5 or 3 & a 70/10 needle, then press well (no swooshing). Batiks have a tighter weave, but they can be mixed. Good luck!

Have a look at Karen Brown's series - the first 3 videos are critical in getting everything to line up. If you haven't seen her before, her tutorials are excellent. (Her series on color theory is LIFE CHANGING!)

Oh no, hope your fabric didn't get too frayed!

I like tools that make the parts of sewing I don't enjoy faster... But otherwise, I agree! I made these a while back. Handy to have pins stored right inside them.

That's so something I would do!😆 Hope you didn't hurt yourself!

Aw, that's too bad. Are there no other longarm quilters in your area?

We're very excited about this contest... many more to come!

Cute! Finally, a reason to make scrunchies. 😆

Love this! My mom gifted me a partially finished quilt top and some random Dresdens that my grandmother had made before she passed. I used them in a lap quilt for my mom and she loved it!

The bonus is that you support small, independent (typically women-owned) businesses! Find a bunch at ThimbleBin.com, but my faves are Love Notions, Patterns for Pirates, Ellie & Mac, Sinclair, and Made for Mermaids.

You don't have to buy one new, either. A good vintage machine can last decades!

I can't be trusted with tissue paper patterns. I prefer to sew with PDF patterns. I totally get why some don't want to bother taping together, but the fact that printer paper can stand up to my abuse is a big factor. 😆

That's amazing! Love the fabric!
