"FDA Announces Completion of First AI-Assisted Scientific Review Pilot and Aggressive Agency-Wide AI Rollout Timeline" feels a bit rushed, isn't it?
"I was blown away by the success of our first AI-assisted scientific review pilot" said Dr. Makary.
Call me old school, but sounds strange in a PR!

Why don't AI Agent already deliver at "production scale"? Perhaps we need to give them some time to mature ...

Kicking the tires on #Futurehouse, the AI agent for discovery, and wow 🤯! Asked about replacing animal tests with NAMs—got back: Transition may feel "as challenging as convincing a cat to take a bath ", but step‑wise NAM adoption + tight regs + global sync = safer, faster, more ethical drug R&D.

HTS, combinatorial chem & NGS promised faster R&D but their data deluge slowed us. Next: NAMs + digital twins: an even bigger floodgate. Without FAIR standards & cleanup, we’ll swap animals for data silos and gridlock. Will Pharma get faster or grind slower? 🧐 #pharma #NAMs

NAMs are reshaping drug R&D: rganoids, chips, in silico models, even microdosing.
But is this the full list? Are we missing emerging tools that defy categories?
As science moves fast, so must our definitions.
What would you add? #DrugDiscovery #NAMs #Toxicology

#NAMs (New Approach Methodologies) are promising, but they still fall short in replicating the full complexity of living systems. Think organ-organ crosstalk, long-term effects, and chronic exposures. Biology isn’t a Petri dish… yet.
With more research, we just might get there. 🧬

NIH to prioritize human-based research, echoing FDA’s phase-out of animal testing.
Great move, esp. from a basic research funder.
But shouldn’t this have come before we declared animal-free drug R&D?

it's great to improve government efficiency - but walking back on the mandate for the FDA to increase diversity is just STUPID 😵‍💫! Bad for patients and for business - not everyone receiving a treatment 💊 is a white / middle aged / Caucasian Male !
