Ask for due diligence. Sponsors should vet governance, codes of conduct, and leadership behavior—not only performance benchmarks. If the mission is a healthier open Internet, align funding with communities that build it for everyone.

Reputation is part of risk. Companies claim to care about safety and trust while underwriting leaders with divisive records. That contradiction erodes credibility—and community health.

Sponsorships aren’t neutral. When big infra brands fund projects led by people with documented, exclusionary or far‑right‑adjacent rhetoric, it shapes who feels welcome in the developer ecosystem—and who doesn’t.

Ladybird: pushed “apolitical” rules that chilled inclusivity; later posts from its founder set off far‑right alarms.

Omarchy: slick distro, but DHH’s politics are the baggage. Sponsors can’t pretend neutrality when their picks normalize this stuff.

The AI coding trap | Chris Loy
If you ever watch someone “coding”, you might see them spending far more time staring into space than typing on their keyboard.

That would be a cool subject to dig in for journalist, except if you fear having your "aides à la presse" cut ✂️.

Because we could say it's based on legitimate interest, there will be concerts right ? Except, they never advertise any other concert nor festival on their newsletter.

Same argument for culture or historical moment in the country. They never did that. So what's the deal?
