I guess with the help of Bernkastell Battler can explain away all of Beatrice's miracles with some more naturalistic alternative no matter how unlikely? But then in turn he'd have to accept Bernkastell as real instead, becuase with out her it would be impossibly improbable?
Bernkastell: She does have the Name Beatrice, but that doesn't necessarily mean she is "one individual woman" In other words, she's not some Human. Her existence is a personification of the rules of this world. To beat her you have to expose the rules of this world and unravel them. Perhaps this can be likened to learning the rules of chess by watching a game. She's asking Battler? or perhaps the reader? to look at the events and try to explain them? Bernkastell has the power to cause success without fail, or in other words to make something incredibly unlikely but theoretically possible happen
