the most obvious solution to this problem is to make a replacement game myself but I really shouldn't start another project right now

I liked VL:LaB because it got me really attached to my villagers, and it was really good at making it seem like they were really struggling to survive. iirc most food was gathered from berry bushes and fruit trees, and water needed to be collected from the river regularly.

all the games I've tried so far are essentially carbon copies of each other in terms of mechanics. the uniform grid, crop fields growing wheat etc, buildings to process products. I don't want another one of those games, I already play township and that's good enough for me.

my only birthday buddy that I know of is my one cousin but he's like... four, so I don't think I'll be getting any texts from him any time soon. he's also one of the shyest kids I've ever met and doesn't know me very well, so I don't think he would even if he could lol

also, I found the gore a bit much. in the others it was usually more strategically placed and tasteful, but in this, they really just had people's limbs being chopped off all over the place and it was harder to watch

I wish I could just put a different ROM on this thing dude, I'm sick of oneui

just tested uninstalling registar and it seems like it did indeed stop this behaviour. it's nice that I figured it out but mad that I can't use this thing unless I tolerate a feature that I wasn't told about and can't turn off.

I've just tried putting the flashlight toggle on the "hold power button" one thinking it might override the default, and that made no difference. 🙃

but I didn't assign the flashlight to anything, so that would mean that it's out of the box behavior that's neither advertised nor configurable, which is super annoying.

the only thing I can think of is that I installed another Good Lock app (samsung's extra apps you have to install if you want to customize certain parts of the phone) called RegiStar which has tweaks to the system settings and allows to set up actions on back tap or holding the power button.

actually I used to just go barefoot all the time because I preferred it, but I only started wearing socks more since starting the school shifts (lots of walking), and then I just didn't take them off afterwards. and now I'm used to wearing them most of the time so I tend to prefer it unless it's hot
