🪶 Birder without talent
Fascination and joy outpace my photography skills... But I'm working on it 😄🦅🐦🦩
Sardinian warbler sceptically checking if I have some flies or mosquitoes to offer. I could only deliver mosquito bites though 😃

He was patiently waiting, so luckily I could get my SX70 in position 😊

As I am no ornithologist, I name this smol bird just "fabulous emerald fluffyball" and think this is accurate 🤩
What a beauty 😍

🐦 Purple-throated Mountain-gem (I think)

This Pacific wren was judging me... Or the rain shower caught him by surprise. At least he looks a bit pissed off 😄

A White-bellied sea eagle waiting patiently at a low-hanging trench screening the water surface for prey. Surely majestic creatures 😍

First crested myna I spotted in George Town, Malaysia.

The photo truly reveals the limit of what my travel zoom is capable of (Canon PowerShot SX70HS). But proud I got the tuft of feathers which gives this bird its beautiful look🐦‍⬛

(Shot with x260 digital zoom, no tripod)

Synchronized yellow-legged gulls vibing in Funchal, Portugal 🪶

Unfortunately I could not photograph them when they were looking in the opposite direction...

They were planning something, I am dead sure! 😄

Anyhow, masters of soaring oncwave-ridges 🌊😍

Long bird dayyyy 🪶

By the way:
How to measure 90° ? Just kindly ask this little blue heron and he'll be your small protractor 😄

Spring is around the corner!

Saw the first formation of cranes passing by my house (near Cologne, Germany).

Always a joyful moment to see these birds coming back from the south.

Caught red-handed. Case clear!

A semiplumbeous hawk, spotted in Costa Rica.

After noticing me, it quickly changed its pose from derpy to majestic.
What a show-off 😄

A motmot a day keeps the doctor away😄

Lessons motmot patiently waiting for me to leave the area so it could continue hunting 😎

Yellow-throated Toucan (Ramphastos swainsonii) showing off it's massive beak.

The heavy beak shifts the center of gravity in flight resulting in a nose-heavy flight behavior. It is hilarious and looks super funny 🤪

Costa Rica's largest heron, the bare-throated tiger heron.

A huge wading bird of the tropics. The fluffy feathers already indicate how it can elongate the neck when it is in hunting mode 🐟

Introducing the national bird of Costa Rica: The clay-colored thrush.

This bird may not be as colorful as typical rain forest birds ... but its song and voice is unique to the central American region.

This little fella was dancing in the rain 😊

The level of fluffiness of this anhinga resting on a tree is amazing. As their feather coat is not waterproof (like ducks), I saw most of them sunbathing with spread wings soaked in water.

But this one was already air-dried in the warm sun of Costa Rica

Broad-billed motmot with a quite water-soaked feather dress.

Bet he was as surprised as me when the sudden rain shower started 🌧️

Spotting it was pure luck: Motmots usually wait motionless on branches until potential prey moves (insects).

Northern jacana (Jacana spinosa) waddling between some leaves floating on a canal in the rainforest.
