...pretty ill-suited to explaining *waves arms*? The idea that politics is about image and presentation and messaging just doesn't explain the world?? And certainly not "politics is marketplace of idea where rational agents shop so just have better ideas".

Yeah definitely don't have any of those details! When I've seen them they are either basking or hiding. I assume this is for a study of some kind? Rakiura DOC might have more info, especially the Dotterel team that encounter them the most as they're in the field a lot.

I'm no herpetologist but I have seen a few Harlequins in my travels, including a couple hiding under the same bit of cover within about 20cm of each other... Unsure if that counts as 'social' or not?
