I think what's happening with our neighbor very clearly shows that conservatives no longer care about low prices. If those tariffs hit, both the US AND Canada are going to be paying more. Lower costs, lower taxes and lower deficit are just fluff for them.

I think two important things at work here are the fear of not knowing and fear of being ostracized. You don't want to become an outcast from your morally good in-group so you accept that there must be a reason why. Even though it looks completely wild.
