I ended up just call all characters, um, characters. But then I don’t have any special rules characters that are controlled by different players.

I think this is a good point of kind of a super blank slate of just “play” but the moment you add one variable - you are in a wood - you get “play (game) in a wood”… “play in a wood with camp kids”… “play in a wood with camp kids who are too much last night”

could do gothic seen from its present: every object is weighty with meaning, intense ceremony and ritual but the meanings are not lost. A gothic democracy or anarchy but where everything has a nearness to purpose. When meaning is lost it becomes the dark form of gothic (Gormenghast, Warhammer).
