Grumpily cynical political geek, apprentice carpenter, bad guitarist. Politically left of centre by some distance. Like rugby, judo, rock, atrocious puns and my cat. He/him. Late diagnosed ADHD.
Just met this excellent cat on a job site, demanding scritches. Ear scritching delivered, 10/10, would scritch again.

Have a slightly blurred Enzo, the world's worst photography subject because he invariably moves just before the shutter goes.

Just watch out, if she starts charging up the special attack it's best to run.

Made up for it with Hellboy, though.

Carpentry apprentice duties: today, a bit of light dusting.

Our runner ducks are growing pretty quickly. Seem to be doing pretty well at keeping the slug population at bay.

Good day for mortising some bed legs today. Fresh edge on the chisel makes all the difference.

Found a decent bargain yesterday - looking round Decathlon for tent waterproofing spray and discovered they're selling Opinel No8 knives for 10€, cheaper than Amazon. I've never actually owned one and they're a classic design so I grabbed one. Comes properly sharp out of the packet, too.

This was last week's workout: I was off for a week due to illness, and ended up with 4 1/2 hours to do the dovetailing and brace mortice and tenons. Got all the cuts done but had to glue it up at home, I think it's not bad for a speedrun. Pine with sapele pegs.

First day of holiday today, so I built a duck run. The ducks seem happy with it.

Yeah, I always have a small knife because I'm a carpenter and I'm constantly pulling it out to open stuff, sharpen pencils or cut a bit of tape I want accurate. It's impossible to mistake for a weapon, though. Can't carry anything like that in Germany.

I love black cats but they are a bugger to photograph. No light can escape the Void.

I'd love to do that with our camper. If I could afford it I absolutely would.

I missed last week at college due to being ill, and tomorrow is the end term, so I had about 4 hours today in the workshop to build a hand-jointed step stool. Started with three pre-dimensioned boards, managed to knock out something that isn't pretty but does fit together properly.

There are millenia-old depictions of Spartan women with their hair like this, you dull hack

Finally got a visiting friend to bring suet with them, so tonight was proper British pie followed by treacle pudding. Feeling especially patriotic now*

Also one of the suits looked like this, and that for me is good enough reason to pronounce Last Rites on the thing.

Enzo has some new friends and is a bit unsure how to feel about it.

It's my tenth wedding anniversary, and my wife has decided we're owning ducks.
Here are the currently tiny ducks: Crispy, Quaxalotl and Sandman

Ok, that does look pretty hair-raising.
This is my grandfather's pocket knife: he was a carpenter, and knew a thing or two about keeping it sharp. I don't dare carry it outside my house in case it gets me arrested.

Latest college project, a 300mm cube cabinet of cherry-veneered furniture board. Door design my own, on veneered black MDF cut on the CNC.

I live in Germany, where there are some very restrictive laws about what knife you may carry, and this is what I've ended up with. It can't be opened one-handed, doesn't lock, and the blade is shorter than my thumb.
