Jersey born. Buckeye grad. Dad of identical triplet boys/never ending laughs and exhaustion, plus a dog! Neurodiverse. Bike/transit/accessibility. Streets are for people. MTB. NYR. Kraken. Explorer. Settling into the PNW. Opinions are my own. Resistance
Oh yes. Working with local disability orgs and folks in select locations to pilot before making it any sort of standard, but it’s pretty awesome stuff. Here’s the trapezoid shape compared to a typical detectable warning at another pilot location next to u district light rail station.

Then shared use paths require curb ramps to be the same width as the path itself. Last time I checked, pedestrians, inc. people in wheelchairs, and cyclists have the right of way at crosswalks. So your claim is not only anti-pedestrian but also causing more issues for people using mobility devices.

Awesome @soundersfc.com youth game and 3-0 win followed by a lovely ride home on the new waterfront cycletrack to catch a beautiful sunset on the Elliott bay trail.

Six hours of bike maintenance yesterday for the triplets bikes including new tires, gear adjustments, and a new brake lever for one of them, plus my own bike tweaks. Well worth the first problem free Duthie ride of the season!

Glad I made it to the #openthepaths conference hosted by UW @taskarcenter.bsky.social and the amazing Anat Caspi and team. Extra motivated getting me going after hearing from @kirkhovenkotter.com and fun banter with my table mate @lauraloeseattle.bsky.social

New e-bike day to all who celebrate! Excited to test out this Lectric wagon which can handle our ever growing triplets while being within our budget.

Interestingly enough, the king county mobility coalition quarterly meeting I’m currently in has metro’s security superintendent presenting on transit safety. Lots of good information and data on the slides.

I was there today as well! What a marvel of engineering!

We were out there in early December when the crews were forming the last corner and the islands. We were conducting post-construction inspections of the curb ramps, as we do with all curb ramps, to determine make sure they are built per plan and ADA standards. Happy to see it’s finally finished!

Ain’t that some shit. First game back and I break the ‘ol’ twig.

As Nick pointed out, this is building code and not the ADA. States can supersede fed accessibility requirements but not lessen. The stretcher requirement does seem excessive and goes above fed ADA requirements. I will give you that.

Happy east coast new years (from the west coast, for the kids) for all who celebrate!

Our first family @sngreenways.bsky.social ride was quite memorable! Holiday night ride with Ballard-Fremont SNG crew in windy conditions and the boys rocked it! Nearly nine miles and these dudes were leading the pack. Our guys are conked out now but couldn’t stop talking about how much fun the had!

You betcha! The boys rocked it!
December 15, 2024 at 6:39 AM
Sent make it into the office unfortunately, but here was the gold I was planning on rocking! Maybe next week?

Had a great time at the showbox sodo last night with saves the day and senses fail on their NJ vs the world tour. Can’t believe their albums have hit the 25 and 20 year anniversary mark. They still rock, at least for my punk/emo self! Recovering from a 3am night is not as easy as it once was….
