One bit I will point out specifically is this paragraph from the pre-Remaster 2e Advanced Player's Guide. We came up with it as a way to make orc society unique and interesting. Other devs and writers took that bit of lore and ran with it, leading to one of the coolest orc NPCs ever: Mahja Firehair.
While there are orc deities, their worship is surprisingly uncommon among orcs. Orcs believe that if a creature has a face and a name, it can be killed, and so their own deities are targets, rather than objects of reverence. Some orc holds teach that the greatest members of the hold can earn a chance to challenge the orc deities for a place amid the pantheon. Most orcs don’t waste their dying moments praising the divine or praying for a place in the afterlife, but spitting a bloodflecked warning at their deities, promising a new challenger through broken teeth. An orc woman who has ascended to divinity. She has deep orange skin, leather armor, and red accents. She holds her weapons aloft as embers smoke in her hair and blades.

It’s 2018, and the Pathfinder Playtest for what would become Pathfinder Second Edition launches to a wave of mixed opinions. Some are expected gripes about the edition change in general, but a surprising number are centered around one facet of the book: goblins as a core ancestry. “Goblins are chaotic,” some argue. “How do I run a game with a goblin PC?” Others argue that goblins are meant to be enemies, and that having goblin PCs makes it harder to justify killing goblin NPCs. And thus have the skeptics accidentally landed on the main purpose of making goblins core. When goblins are a racialized other and you can kill them indiscriminately, what does that say about the design of the game?
