Such a beautiful day for a morning walk.

The highlight was spotting this welly boot on the fence in front of the Wanstead Park grotto. From a certain angle it looks like the grotto’s about to eat it. Or is that just me?!

The jasmine is absolutely hitting the spot right now. I’ve been walking with my nose around London, taking little detours down all the side streets where I know find some.

Jasmine is one of my favoure smells. Full of the potential of summer.

3 years ago today, I launched The Writer’s Walk: my newsletter on walking and writing.

Thanks to everyone who’s been along for the walk. I have hundreds more ideas on my list, so there’s plenty more to come.

With the UK about to see the hottest April in 7 years, we’re seeing a lot of sunshine this week.

Go for a walk in the sun and use thes prompts for your writing:

What does the light reveal that you didn’t spot on a grey day?
How does the air feel?
How do you feel after your stroll?

These daffs were in perfect bloom on my #morningwalk around Tophill Low Mature Reserve.

What have you spotted on your walks that made you smile?

I love the weekly email notes from Dark Angels Writers.

They’re a welcome boost at the end of a busy week – today’s came with a lovely walking-inspired writing prompt, too.

Today is National Walking Day, so what better way to celebrate than a walk with @sutchfun.bsky.social CEO and co-founder of the walking, wayfinding and nature connection app @gojauntly.bsky.social

We can’t wait to share our chat on The Writer’s Walk next week.

I loved hearing Paul McVeigh chatting with @kitdewaal.bsky.social last night. They shared the challenges they overcame to became writers, and along with @cathygalvin.bsky.social they’re incredibly generous in the way they support other writers. I left inspired and ready to write. Thank you 💚

Lovely to meet @adamjfarrer.bsky.social signing his new book at @jebookshull.bsky.social yesterday. He invited everyone who bought a book to also sign a copy so he’ll have a souvenir of his tour.

What a fab idea!

I’ve just finished reading And He Shall Appear by @katevanderborgh.bsky.social

Kate’s first novel is as unsettling as it is stunning. She takes us into the dark academia of Cambridge where we meet the enigmatic Bryn through the eyes of an unnamed narrator who falls under his spell.

I paused by William Blake’s grave marker as I walked through Bunhill Fields Cemetery this week and spotted a robin keeping watch beside it.
