Regarding KCPD's disruption of our weekly meal share on 1/4/2026
On Sunday, January 4, KCPD arrested two members of food not bombs kc during our weekly meal share on trespassing charges. KCPD forced all FNBKC volunteers to leave the area and dispersed anyone arriving for our meal, under threat of further arrests. The police cited a loitering ordinance, alleging that members were blocking the public sidewalk. For over 13 years, Food Not Bombs KC has been sharing 60 - 100 hot meals, groceries, and other supplies freely in the same public area on the sidewalk. Last Sunday was the first time we were unable to do so. Despite police disruption, we distributed what food and supplies we could at another location, though many of our neighbors were shooed away by police presence and were unable to find us. We intend to continue sharing with the community, as dozens of our neighbors rely on the food we share every week. Food is a human right. We have the right to public spaces, and the right to demonstration. We have covered the bond for our volunteers who were arrested during our meal share. Any support you can share will help us cover any additional fines, legal costs, or more bonds paid should KCPD continue to escalate.

Just did a quick Google to reassure EVERYONE in the LAW OFFICE where I work that there is not, in fact, a cancer-causing ingredient in instant ramen packets. In case anyone wasn't worried about our information environment yet.

Today Google Chrome went from not supporting/updating its best adblocker (uBlock Origin) to totally disabling it. I went to its store page and hmm a few new reviews today.
A 5-star review that constructs an elaborate acrostic spelling out FUCK YOU and then specifies META/GOOGLE before thanking the creator of the extension, Raymond Hill aka GORHILL Multiple 5-star reviews: - Never been more excited to switch off of Chrome after they disabled this extension. Ciao, and up yours Chrome - Today on July 13th, Chrome/Google decided to disable this extension. OK, i can use another browser. Bye Chrome. - Been using ublock for years, never had issues, never needed to worry, never saw any bs. Good job Google, you've become hellbent on either destroying or nuking all of your products. I'll be using ublock on a different browser. See ya later Chrome. - Time to stop using Chrome :) Google is a bunch of nerds. - best ad blocker I've used. google chrome are lames for disabling this plugin. firefox still has ad blockers. maybe it's a good idea to use that instead.

When the Mayors Corps was reconstituted in April 2023, the three-member board included the mayor, the aide who went to the Super Bowl with him and an attorney who told The Independent he was not sure he was ever an officer. The most recent registration report for the nonprofit — from June 2023 — still names the three as board members, but the mayor’s general counsel said in a letter to The Independent in December that the mayor and staffer relinquished their roles as voting members of the board in October 2023.

no don't mind me boss I'm just taking a couple extra minutes on the toilet because I'm on my phone freezing my credit on the off chance I ever live in an economy where I can take out a loan again. maybe for a house or a car or some Chinese takeout.
