Software nerd. Systems, science, engineering and math. Music, piano, food, travel. And politics because ... here we are.
It’s the monolith travelogue Kubrick left on the cutting room floor.

Pretty Damn Scary.

I basically agree with you here. I just think it is possible that @kevinmkruse.bsky.social made a great rebuttal *and* that motor vehicles could stand to be more regulated.

Except cars don’t actually work that way. Ever hear of a CDL? And the fact that plenty of potential vehicles are not street legal at all because they are (wait for it) too dangerous.

NCAR Mesa Lab records some of the highest wind gusts in the area. So naturally if we close it, it won't be so windy. QED.

The thing I love the most about AI weather forecasts is they always tell me the weather will be exactly what I want it to be! And then they're so sorry when they're wrong.

Ok sure but hear me out, what about people who are ugly *on the inside*?

I can't imagine Trump appreciating a natural setting. He'd have to scrape it empty of life and cover the exposed bedrock in gold leaf first.

Point/counterpoint is(was?) the best. I think my all-time favorite is still "Life Begins at Conception vs Life Begins at 40!".

Tough talk from someone that can barely speak a coherent sentence in his native tongue.

Still know plenty of people who will say "but I like his policies". Any level of personal malevolence is ok in furtherance of white Christian supremacy.

You give him too much credit; he merely thinks Reiner's death is about himself, because he sees literally everything that happens in the world that way.

The idea that the "freedom" to remain unperturbed by the presence of people who are different is somehow more important than the freedom to actually be different is insane. I dream of a nation where we are not stuck perpetually re-litigating the sexual revolution. It's my entire adult life, so far.

How’s the senior discount?
December 12, 2025 at 11:09 PM
Yes they are! 😉
December 12, 2025 at 9:33 PM
The scenario you're suggesting would not surprise me at this point.

It also doesn't hurt that unlike the D&D and heavy metal community, big AI has roughly eleventy bajillion dollars at its disposal.

Oh don't worry; the moment that LLMs start giving teenagers practical information about sex and gender, the boom will come down hard.

The constitution is only what the Federalist Society says it is.
December 12, 2025 at 12:57 AM
I can think of six “legal experts” that will likely say otherwise.

Given my dreams of what the future would be like as a young-un, I can't believe it's the 2000s *and* we are collectively stupider than ever. But then I guess we do have a lead-poisoned generation in power now.

And yet I would still rather spend time metaphorically keeping my knives sharp.
