20yrs working in forestry, watching in horror as our ecosystems collapse under climate change. Born 332ppm. #cancer #lovenotwar
Parts arrived late yesterday afternoon, now to fit them... Got to remove the wheel bearing housing from the wishbones, both sides 🙄.
At least it's going to be slightly warmer this week 🤞.

What's is like being able to a afford a mechanic?

Happy Sunday doomers 👊🫂❤️

I only recognise my "country" and stand with our Scottish brothers... Freedom 👊!!!

Both are really needy 🤣😍

Very tiring on dad's lap... 😍

Still snowing, going to stop mid afternoon though, then thaw.

Morning Ian

Wintery day in East Yorkshire, still snowing. Forecast to cease around 4pm and then weather warm up to around 4°C rest of week.

Stay warm folks 🫂

Evening all 👊

Current hellscape day 3. Finally diagnosed faulty vacuum unit on the automatic freewheeling hubs (shit design).
I've got to dismantle entire wishbone suspension both sides...
It's almost -1°C, snowmelt covers the floor, awaiting parts 2-5 days, thoroughly pissed off, wet and cold 🥶 🙄.

I imagine this is a fake account Andrea👇.

The elephant in the room, most people have absolutely no understanding of our total dependency on FF.

It is the reason we are alive at this point in time. Turning it off would be fatal to human life.

Fantastic, how many litres have you managed Jan?

I've got some moonshine to bottle this week, also looking at doing some Christmas beer in barrels this year.
I had a lucky purchase in the local charity shop and bought 2 for £20. Just need to replace the seals.

This year's almond harvest, East Yorkshire, 10' high tree, 6yrs old.
First tree to flower, hangs on to blossom, early pollinators adore them.
They taste like marzipan on steroids 😋.

I'm absolutely taking cuttings from this and growing another, hugely beneficial tree in our edible wildlife garden!

Last of the tomato harvest, about to become pasta sauce 😋
September 20, 2025 at 11:53 AM
Lit ours last night for the first time Ian.

Was nice having hot water this morning after months of cold hand washing.

I love being a peasant 🙃

Not much else any of us can do my friend, just battle through the day.
We've actually got rain this morning, quite stormy. So today's work has been postponed until tomorrow.

Put up a "tent garage" over the weekend, so I'll continue installing electric today instead.

How's things? 👊🫂

Leek & potato soup production line 😋
September 11, 2025 at 11:21 AM
This morning I'm making and canning roast squash & red pepper soup.
Then leek & potato soup, all from our own organic produce.

Should be a delicious winter treat later in the season 😋.

Where the fk did that come from???
A piece of metal lodged in the rear brake pad groove!

I thought the pads were worn out and that's where the squeaking was coming from in last week 😳

I fitted the previous pads and it absolutely wasn't there then, not come from anywhere on the disk or caliper???

I've had enough for one day.

Almost 10k steps, 0.5km long end to end double thickness conifer hedge. 3.5m tall, 4m wide.
Hedge cutter weighs 8kg.

Studies into tree surgeon calorie intake, task dependent but can be up to 7000 per day...

Got to drive 120 miles this evening collecting children 🙃

The annual half kilometer hedge cut begins... Lovely customer, awful job 😔

3 days of relentless backbreaking graft.

Things like these biscuits below are a great emergency long life food.
They can also be easily hidden in multiple locations as they are individually wrapped.

Sailors have been known to hold out for long periods of time on these rations and they are again reasonably priced, at least UK side.

Honestly, it's an incredible book packed full of knowledge and practical instructions.

Below are the type of seasoning we get from our local Lidl supermarket.
1kg and very cost effective here in the UK.

We'd never realistically be able to grow everything that's in there.

A favourite book of mine 👇, an absolute beast of practical reference.
I might add that large jars of general purpose dehydrated seasoning is a peppers friend (lasts forever).

Seasoning or lack of, can make or break any meal, nettle soup is transformed into a thing of beauty with a little seasoning.

I've taken the somewhat radical approach to espalier our silver birch trees.

Reason: everything has struggled with drought. Reducing canopy frees up water draw for other plants as well as themselves.
It's drastic, but I feel it's warranted.

Birch trees do not respond well to being topped!
