Did you know spider plants, while not toxic to cats, do have what is described as a “mild hallucinogenic effect” on them? My degenerate cat has figured this out, and will follow me around, screaming, if I try to remove it from him.

The gigantic ones are Howgate Wonders, which are notionally all-rounders, but I think they’re better cookers, and the smaller ones are Red Falstaff, which we’ll just eat as is, until they start to lose their crisp texture, at which point I will make them into compote. There are more on the trees!

I love this project! And I think all the chickens are great, but this one in particular feels very self-possessed. It is a chicken that is looking back at me very confidently.
