I love being Black and having locs. It’s an act of decolonizing my perception of beauty and femininity, having and keeping my locs through my transition. It’s hard to feel pretty and girly a lot of days bc of how masculinized / demonized my hair has been, and still is but I’ll never give it up🖤

Decided to lean into the feelings I’ve been having instead of forcing myself to make something that felt more “relevant”

To honor my feelings and the bod[ies] of work I have produced, albeit, under capitalistic coercion. I am trying to make the things I have spent the last decade of my life creating mean something outside of an orgasm that is moved past and never thought of again. I am trying to find ways to even the score. I am trying to find ways to feel like there is reward in this pain. That there is not only punishment that comes from the truth of my pain. That you can honor this pain, and derive pleasure from the things I provide. Please, do not flatten me. Pay for my pain. Aurora Mattia’s debut novel, The Fifth Wound — changed my life completely. I have a pre-release reader copy, the first edition release and the special edition with her photo on the back, her signature and a beautiful lipstick kiss mark from Aurora herself.

I think everyone should read this book.
