Pte Elmer Langford, 14th Bttn, CEF. Wounded at Ypres June 1916, he returned to the UK to recover.
On 17 April 1917, his body was recovered from the sea at Bexhill.
An open verdict was recorded by the jury. He was buried at Hastings Cemetery. – ‘He fought the good fight and won the crown of glory’

Cpl Luther Algeo, born in Ireland but served with 11th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. Murdered by a comrade on 21 Dec 1916. Buried at Hastings Cemetery, Sussex. #ww1 #remember #remembrancesunday🌹

A wonderful photo of Sgt Robert Howe & his wife, Florence. Robert was wounded serving with the Canadian 4th Battalion, at Mount Sorrell, near Ypres, 1916. He recovered, but died from appendicitis in February 1919, whilst attached to the Canadian Army Medical Corps.
He rests in Hastings Cemetery.

Sgt Henry Allen, 2nd Bn Royal Sussex Regiment. Died of wounds 15th July 1916 at Epsom Hospital, with his wife Rose by his side. Buried at Hastings Cemetery.
Personal Inscription: He fought the victory, won and entered into eternal rest. Wife.
