I almost got a book for you a few weeks ago, but since you work in a bookstore I don't want to get you any currently available titles. This was a history of Book Shops.

Have you ever read Mark Twain's essay that features The Golden Arm. It's a wonderful essay on how to tell a story. I've seen others (and I myself have) used his techniques to get both laughter and a Jump Scare. What a thoughtful creative that man was.
