In memory of the turkeys whose lives were violently taken from them so that humans could use their bodies to celebrate Thanksgiving. How can it be right to 'give thanks' by taking someone's life from them when we could, so easily, be vegan instead?

Red is a tiny hen who gets extra special attention and loves being treated like a little queen.

If you haven't already placed an order for the Eden calendar, it would be a good idea to do so now to ensure delivery in time for Christmas.

Just look at Red's beautiful face. She is so obviously someone and not something. Yet she was treated as if she were 'something' for most of her life when she was used to cater for the human demand for her milk, even though that meant enduring constant lactation and loss of her calves.

It's hard to believe it is fifteen years since we met the turkeys who were to come to Eden and teach us so much about these exquisitely sentient beings who are so full of life. We will never forget Maeve, Morgana and Marian and what they taught us.

This Christmas, do something different. Read about why vegans do not use other animals and think about going vegan yourself. There has never been more support for anyone embarking on veganism.

There is justifiable public outrage at the killing of a red deer in Newbridge Demesne, Co Dublin. But what about the other animals we brutally and unnecessarily kill? Sandra Higgins, Go Vegan World &Eden Farmed Animal Sanctuary, chats to Declan Meehan, East Coast FM Radio.

What better way to support a vegan sanctuary than to purchase a calendar that features a different sanctuary resident every month.

Life is so much less frenetic for Red now that she is not producing milk and no longer has to endure the stress of continual pregnancy and loss of her calves. Her manner has become much more sedate and relaxed.

You can see the enthusiasm to interact in Henry's face. Whenever he sees us, he gallops towards us, showing us how important we are to him. It is such a privilege to witness this and be with him. He's always been one of the friendliest animals on the sanctuary and we can't help adoring him.

Few of our posts invite as many trolls or as much derision as those containing photos of the pigs at Eden. The contrast between these complex, feeling, deeply sensitive, affectionate animals and the humans who write about them couldn't be more stark.

Banbh has been very unwell recently so we were delighted to see her going on a little journey in her paddock after lunch recently. She is one of our older, special needs residents. As Eden ages, so do the animals who live here and, sadly, end of life care becomes the norm.

We all know what it's like to want a peaceful break. Marcus finally managed to capture this priceless moment when Bonnie takes her lunch into her barn to eat in privacy. She's been doing this for years, meal after meal. Clyde remains oblivious to her as long as he has his own lunch.
