had an extremely normal one at the estate sale last week
A extremely dusty old hardcover book from the 1970s terrifyingly entitled "How to Say No to a Rapist — and Survive" Another wildly dusty tome, this one a paperback, entitled "SATAN'S Whispers: Breaking the Lies that Bind." The word "Whispers" is rendered in a swishy, high-speed looking font that seems to be blowing across the page. It looks cool as hell Another old paperback, this one looking a bit more self-published than the other two. On the cover is a yellowed duotone photograph of an enormous display of dead crabs. The book is titled "CRAB IS KING: the Colorful Story of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco" Finally, a book published, clearly for a readership of cops only, by the Nashville Police Department. It's about SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) and the cover features a drawing of three cops in full SWAT mode that appears to have been drawn by a twelve-year old kid

We've long assumed that memories require synaptic plasticity: the connections between neurons and synapses. But tiny ciliates can change their behavior based on past experiences — using only one cell. Which means that memory is a phenomenon that transcends the brain.
