For reference, here's the old Eclipse Caste anima wallpaper I did of Prince Diamond. Being the self-critical artist I am, I want to polish this up with a better sense of the underlying figure and a more polished art style.

My own progress with this year's #ExaltedArtChallenge is painfully slow while I'm prepping for my first year back at cons in 6 years...but slow & steady wins the race right?🥲

For Favorite Caste, I'm redoing my old anima wallpaper of Prince Diamond. (Ref on the left by @artphobos.bsky.social).
OH PRINCE DIAMOND! I'm enjoying testing out the new Procreate Pen brushes that have this natural toothiness and whispiness to them. Pictured is Prince Diamond garbed in the bright regalia of a Delzahn far rider on the left brandishing a red glass scimitar. On the right is my own try at this same character currently incomplete and half-inked, but with the a similarly stern expression.

Life has been A LOT lately, so I was thankful to the Exalted Character of the Week event over at the Forge of Wonders Discord for the excuse to draw Dr_Zaius' brilliant & bumbling sleuth, Detective Claw Zu.

Not my usual type to draw. Huzzah for getting outside my comfort zone!

My final topic for this year's #exaltedartchallenge - Botch! Sit back & let me tell you the story of my Eclipse Caste's embarrassing critical failure.
This is the story of the first botch I had in our Exalted TTRPG game! A most ragtag team of Solars wins an epic battle against an overwhelming force. My character, the gunslinger, Koh, shows off their weaponry with a spin of their firewand rifle...or does he? The story of what really happened. Koh rolls a 1, equaling a critical failure for this action, causing him to throw his firewand rifle to the ground in front of the enemy. The surrendering soldiers stare on in befuddlement, too afraid to move. One of them eventually hands Koh his rifle back, which he offers thanks for. This character has officially died of embarrasment.

I could probably finish this comic sooner if I stopped redesigning every character in it on the fly lol. Koh (Kalara’s male gunslinger alter ego/persona) is on his 3rd or 4th redesign in total. Cuz masks + glasses are cool.

Page 1. While on a way to a meeting, our heroine is accosted by a group of would-be assassins. She calmy asks them if they can be talked out of this, a smile creeping onto her features because she knows the answer. Dialog reads: Kalara: "I suppose there's no point in negotiating?" Page 2. Kalara materializes a pair of gunner's glasses and reaches into the Elsewhere dimension to draw her firewands (guns in this setting). They are special stylized flintlocks made of sunlight. Page 3. Kalara strikes a pose as all cool people must after doing an anime-style weapon summoning. A devilish grin stretches across her face, her eyes flashing with glee. Dialog reads "I haven't let the Silvertongued-Devil out to play in a long time." Page 4. Kalara lets loose a volley of magical fiery blasts, each one guided by a blue circular abacas made of energy that guides and focuses her shot. Endless fire streaks find their targets. She is smiling all the while. FX Dialog "Azure Abacus Meditation" the name of her Charm, or martial arts ability in this TTRPG setting. Page 5. Kalara drops her guns, unsummoning them into thin air. She snaps her glasses out of existence where they will be magically stored out of sight. Her smile fades back to her normal, businesslike expression. Her fun is over for now. Dialog reads: "At least I got my exercise in today. Hope i'm not late!" Her assassins were just a short workout for her. Inspired by the Exalted tabletop RPG setting from Onyx Path Publishing and the Righteous Devil martial art from the setting.
