After the FDR memorial, this is my favorite monument on the mall for its dynamicism -- emerging from the stone, offering a "stone of hope" out of the "mountain of despair" -- a message with new meaning on this holiday.

The Société d’Encouragement pour l’Industrie nationale, founded in Paris in 1801 used this letterhead. I interpret the images based on my knowledge of Masonic and other imagery that I've come across in my research. Do you have any thoughts on what this iconography might mean?
