They are basically corporate media trying to have a successful online channel, because corporate media is dying, as they don't realize the medium isn't the problem, it's the content.

Wild how the left that Cenk has been claiming is radical keeps getting proven right, as Cenk and Ana's downplaying of Trump's return keeps getting proven wrong.

Oh boy are clips already flying with TYT clips with headlines disproving all of their BS. Good thing the market will end TYT's pandering.

I can't even imagine what a Bernie presidency would have looked like, as both parties and the media would have done everything to be against him as they represent oligarch interests, and would have blocked everything he tried to do.

We really need enough people in Congress too.

So the supply is absolutely there, prices have to come down, which can happen with more affordable new homes, but taxing empty units for 5% or more of their market value is the best solution, because that would not only drop housing cost, it would also significantly decrease homelessness.
January 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
There are no states with fewer vacant housing units than homeless families/individuals. With NY, HI, OR, and CA having over 6 vacant homes per homeless individual, and they are the 4 lowest vacant unit states per homeless, NYC is 5 per family, & US total is 21.5 units per homeless individual.
January 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
What the data does show, no state with significantly higher than average homelessness (HI & NY) has a significantly high number of southern boarder crossing people (TX & NV), and CA is the only state moderately high in both homeless rate and crossed over.

So immigrants aren't a significant factor.

So states vary differently on the cause, but we need seasonal workers to come to the US if we want our food and housing prices to be lower, because without them the cost of labor will significantly increase the cost, and already has, on top of monopoly behavior and investors buying houses.
January 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
NYC has over 270,000 unoccupied housing units, more than enough for NYC's homeless families/individuals really showing that NYC can easily fix their homeless problem.

The main problem in NY is wages vs cost of living, seemingly similar in HI too, which has 2.6 people per unit.

NY has low intra-national migration, slight higher than average legal immigration, moderately higher visa overstays, and nearly half the average other illegal immigration, as well as higher than average houses per people, NY and NYC being the same housing units per person at 2.32 people per unit.
January 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
When you break it down, HI and NY have by far the highest homeless populations per capita, tied at 0.82% of their population, third being OR at 0.55%.

HI visa overstays are over 95%, with over 3% of their population being unauthorized immigrants, and is 6th for US citizens to migrate to.
Domestic Outmigration From Some Urban Counties Slowed, Smaller Gains in Rural Counties
Domestic migration rebounded in some of the nation’s most populous counties that saw steep outmigration earlier in pandemic.

There are many factors in place in all of these states, including investors buying up affordable single family homes, internal migration, wages not matching cost of living in these areas, and many other factors.

What is wild is that @anakasparian.bsky.social jumped to blaming immigrants/asylum seekers, when the report considers that as only one of many factors, and the data just doesn't match up to being a significant cause, otherwise NJ, IL, and TX have significantly more homeless per 10,000 people.
What we know about unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S.
The unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S. grew to 11 million in 2022, but remained below the peak of 12.2 million in 2007.

Given that it failed to operate as a Progressive organization, I have to say it isn't surprising at all that this is the outcome, as Cenk has been behaving exactly like every exec I know that went from having values to being greedy.
December 31, 2024 at 5:18 PM
@theyoungturks.bsky.social had the chance to be the Progressive foundation, but it clearly fell apart, failing to keep bringing on Progressive politicians and candidates, and instead falling for the constant Trump coverage too many channels fell for.

It's hard to tell if @cenkuygur.bsky.social genuinely is taking the criticism from the left as an attack, or if he realizes his company is dying, is panicking, and doing whatever to try to keep the company afloat, other than everything his audience and allies have been saying.

TYT is a political news channel that in Oct 2024 had 26.7m views for the month, right before the 2024 election, when in 2023 they had 46.9m and 2022 had 41.2m views. Instead of pivoting to recapture their lost audience, seem to be pivoting for money instead.
December 31, 2024 at 5:18 PM
Beyond that, how he interacts with other people has proven that he is pushing away the left, and embracing the right, which is insane as that is how Harris lost, and why TYT is dropping in subscriptions and views massively.

Beyond that, during Cenkgiving with Hasan (www.twitch.tv/hasanabi), "I am the left" Cenk started to slip and exposed that he is paying more attention to polling, than values, and started clearly separating himself from the left, as his language proves.
