And to be clear, this is not me saying that $80 for a AAA game is a ripoff. For the budgets, team sizes, and scope of the work being done, the cost is MORE than reasonable.

But do we really need or want that anymore? And when a game looks nice, but is otherwise an empty experience, does it matter?

Meanwhile, look at The Indie Awards for an absolute TROVE of next level games for such affordable prices. For less than $40 bucks, you will find a game that changes your life.

How anyone is still prioritizing AAA games anymore is beyond me.

The Game Awards are ultimately pandering nonsense, but look at this price breakdown for GOTY:

Hades II - $30
Clair Obscur - $50
KCDII - $60
Donkey Kong Bananza - $70
Death Stranding II: On The Beach - $70

All amazing games, but the best games on here are all cheaper than AAA prices
