To celebrate the last night I booted up my PDP-11 in RT-11 and set the date to 31-DEC-99, the last date that that OS can handle without a modern Y2K patch. A few seconds after midnight I checked the time and date. Yeah, that date is broken. Y2K was a real thing.

I'm proud to have served my time as a pilot in the Wolfheim Station Defense Squadron. We kept that station safe from rocks, pirates, and the occasional drunk docking pilot. (We pretended to space one, and that stopped that problem. I won't tell you what we really did, but it involved a beer barrel.)
