Versions of these primitive “pancakes” have been made around the world. With this style, we cook them directly in the hot coals. You can add any nut or berry you”’d like to the mix, or even chocolate for some campfire fun.

Have you ever tried an @esbit.original stove? A great emergency fire starter and a super convenient ultralight stove. I’ve been using them for over a decade.

You may have seen this on a show or movie, but it really does work. We used it on the fireline all the time on my Helitack crew, as our ships were not allowed to fly after sunset.

Don’t forget we offer in person and online courses. Join us!

Digging for water is not always this successful. I only dig if:

*I find a dry wash with riparian plants. Theses are plants like the willow tree, who must have their roots inside the “water table” to stay alive- thus signifying underground water.

I’ve had this little guy for more than 5 years now, and I’ve had the smaller version as well. They’re one of my favorite pieces of cold weather preparedness gear. Excellent for vehicles as well if you travel through remote or rural areas.

Use the link in bio and train with me in person or online. Medihoney dressings are very well known in wound care. Many credit these anti-microbial dressings with saving a limb.

I highly recommend adding one to your kit. You won’t regret it. Nearly indestructible, lightweight, and they come in clutch during an emergency. Use the link in bio and click on our Amazon store. We have them in the “survival gear” section.

This happened less than one year after another woman tragically passed in the same area when her e-bike stopped working.

SOUND ON. The view from the deck tonight. I just want to know what made them all stop at once?

The lensatic compass is both rugged and highly accurate. Be careful not to lower the magnifying lens too much when taking your reading, as this may lock the needle. This feature lowers “wear and tear”.

We offer a full video land navigation course.

There are many sub-categories to these 5 main classifications that will have significant impact on their ecosystems. This classification system was first published by the Russian/German climatologist and botanist Wladimir Koppen in 1884.

These little flat pack esbit stoves are great in the field. Quick and easy hot water when you need it, or use the cubes for emergency fire making.

Hiker’s rash, aka “Golfer’s Rash” or “Disney Rash” is caused by inflamed blood vessels in the leg. It usually occurs under the sock, and is likely caused by poor blood return from the leg. It is self resolving, so try not to worry if you see it!

The Rule of Palmar Surface: the patient’s palm (including fingers) is equal to 1% of their total body surface area (TBSA).

The leading cause of burn injuries in the outdoors is cooking accidents.

Having a fixed point in the sky which also aligns with true north is very useful. It allows you to stay oriented as you move through the night.

Dye is a standard emergency signal in snow and water. The kool-aid signal is wildly cheap and effective. Use the small packets seen here, as they don’t yet have the sugar added and are a much higher concentration of the dye.
