Our collective choice to stay and the ensuing legal fights reinforced the notion that this is still a nation of laws and that the president does not have absolute power. We may not have stopped the freight train to fascism but we at least slowed it down.

But by us moving as a unit, we forced their hand and then we forced them to answer for it.

There would be no lawsuits and Trump/Musk wouldn’t have had to answer for any of what they did. Emboldened, they would have done much more much faster.

As a result, I and many other probies were put on admin leave but if we had all taken the deal, we’d be much closer to a dictatorship than we currently are and we’re already pretty damned close.

But the bigger part of me knew the future of our democracy hinged and continues to hinge upon our willingness to take a stand when we encounter wrongdoing. If they wanted me to leave, they would have to terminate me.

Part of it was pettiness lol because I resent the likes of Donald Trump and Elon Musk (two of the biggest conmen) dangling a dollar in my face to get me to leave.

Hmm…so go center, keep the two seats that flipped (maybe) but very likely lose half the ones that we held onto barely. This math maths 🙄
