A Shreveport family is safe from a house fire thanks to the quick thinking of a 10-year-old boy! The Shreveport Fire Department tells us the boy woke up to the fire and alerted his family of six and got them out safely.

🎒 Caddo Parish teachers and staff are now prohibited from wearing any political paraphanelia or teaching or promoting any political viewpoints in the classroom. That includes taking positions on race, gender, sexuality or sexual identity. The school board passed that new policy earlier this week.

Louisiana is starting its own "DOGE" after President-elect Donald Trump announced the Department of Government Efficiency. The goal is to cut government waste. At 6 a.m., on KSLA News 12, we'll talk w/ LA State Rep. Blake Miguez who is on the task force.

This is Carl Blackburn from Alexandria. He was unhoused and unfortunately died this week. His body was found outside in below freezing temperatures. The Louisiana Dept. of Health classified his death as the first winter-related death this year in the state.

LA Sen. Bill Cassidy posted on Facebook that he just met with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Trump's pick for Secretary of Health & Human Services. Cassidy is the new chair of the senate committee overseeing health and human services and the senate has to vote to confirm the appointment.
