Just finished and enjoyed biography of 1930s England and Northants opener Fred Bakewell Among the Bright Colours by Mick Pope. Interesting character - no bitterness about his truncated career. Well worth a read

Good shot of some of the older stands at Lord's.
Lord's pictured on August 27th 1921 during the Championship decider between Middlesex and Surrey. As was the case 12 months earlier, Middlesex won and so secured the title, although they had to score 322 for 4 to do so after conceding a first-innings deficit of 137 #cricket
