STRAW on Netflix. Taraji started her career singing on a harbor cruise called Spirit of Washington. I worked on the Spirit of Boston, warbling Satin Doll by Duke Ellington. Not quite the perfect song for me. Anyway, check out Straw and see some damn good acting from Taraji an her castmates.

I rented this film via Hoopla library app. One of Jane Seymour's earliest films. I didn't realize her career went back so far. She gives a wonderful and graceful performance.

Couldn't sleep so I read Kelly Bishop's The Third Gilmore Girl early this morning. Full of great stories of stage and screen. I grew up listening to her At the Ballet, which Marvin Hamlisch once told me was his favorite song he had ever written.

Feeling the cold air as I walked across a parking lot in my ski jacket, and the sound of Billy Joel from a car radio instantly transported me to the 1970s. After so many winters in CA these East Coast scenes feel very nostalgic.

The Best Christmas Pageant/Propaganda Ever. The insistent reverence for the "true meaning of Christmas" saps the fun out of it. Like being forced to attend Sunday School or Christian Day Camp?
