Someone needs to invent some kind of online calculator whereby we Brits can put in our recent healthcare appointments/meds/experiences and it’ll calculate what it would cost on average in the USA. Just to hammer home how bloody lucky we are to have the NHS and how fiercely we need to protect it.

4. The company’s primary (fiduciary) duty is to its shareholders, not its customers, let alone to rivers and aquifers. Its directors and execs, on performance-related pay and bonuses, have a powerful incentive to invest as little as possible in works, and pay as much as possible in dividends.

1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
