How are we supposed to fight this tactic from authoritarian regimes? Will finishing s2 of ‘Andor’ shed light on the matter?

Well, shit. Now I’m rethinking what I said to someone on IG earlier in response to their comment about truly fighting back giving Trump excuse to declare martial law, where I questioned whether we should let that threat stop us because things probably need to get worse before getting better.

As someone who went to journalism school, I understand the logic of ABC suspending Moran in normal times, but these are not normal times. Moran being punished by his employer for criticizing Trump and Miller reads as complicity on the part of ABC. The mainstream media have been too gentle w/ Trump.

Oh, Canada has? I just started watching in 2022 and guess I haven’t gotten that far back in time yet in the ESC spreadsheet I’m working on. (It has participating countries on the X axis and hosts/years on the Y axis and I plan to list every song. The songs are color-coded based on how they placed.)

By that logic, South Africa, The US, Canada, Mexico, et al. should be in ESC, too.

Australia is in because they got a special invite in 2015 for being such die-hard ESC fans, waking up at 4 or 5am to watch the contest. Now they keep getting invited back each year. I don’t think it has anything to do with being a European settler colony.

One of the few genuine ‘props’ I have to give Trump is that he has a pretty solid track record of doing the things he says he’s going to do. Most of the time they’re terrible and harmful, and surrounded by lies, but when he decides he wants to do a key thing, he tends to go for it as advertised.

He imposed a 10% tariff on a pair of islands in Antarctica that have no human inhabitants. He’s literally taxing penguins!

I’ve been debating whether to hold Mark Burnett personally responsible for the downfall of America and our government, at least in part. He created ‘The Apprentice,’ which is what convinced so many Trump voters that he was a legit business man, which helped him win the presidency the first time.

What do you mean by that? (Not being defensive, just curious as a somewhat average US citizen.)
