Holme Pierrepont w/c 24th March. Greater Scaup last seen on Wednesday, now seemingly headed off for more northern climes. The two Smew remain for now. Three Black-tailed Godwits in varying degrees of summer finery dropped in for a wade in the lagoon. First barn swallow of the year completed the set.

Site record of 11 Great White Egrets at HP tonight. First sand martins of the year to accompany the winter wildfowl. 2 Smew (drake and redhead), 3 Greater Scaup (m, f, 1w m), pintail and RCP remain. Cold blast from the north suggests they may linger a little longer yet.

Site record of 11 Great White Egrets at HP tonight. First sand martins of the year to accompany the winter wildfowl. 2 Smew (drake and redhead), 3 Greater Scaup (m, f, 1w m), pintail and RCP remain. Cold blast from the north suggests they may linger a little longer yet.
Male Brambling and a calling Curlew are good additions to the year list at HP this week. Other birds include the lingering drake pintail, Greater Scaup (3), Barn Owl and a Redshank. #ukbirds

A fine late afternoon at Holme Pierrepont. A numerically pleasing selection of birds to complement the sunshine. 5 Great White Egrets, 4 Smew (2 drakes & 2 redheads), 3 Greater Scaup (drake, female & 1w), 2 Oystercatchers and 1 Barn Owl.
