with their teammates. Muncy was no-doubt a key part of that atmosphere. Is substituting him out for Nolan potentially disrupting that atmosphere? I don't know, but I personally don't see a reason to risk it.

We have to weigh the costs. Would you sacrifice a far better offensive bat for a defense that doesn't even get you nominated for Gold Gloves anymore? That's a little bit hyperbolic but the point is, Nolan Arenado is not someone the Dodgers should pursue in any capacity.

However, Muncy has 0 OAA, perfectly league average essentially. This pales in comparison to Arenado's 10 OAA, but I feel as if many in this debate act as if Muncy is a defensive black hole. He certainly isn't, and arguably won't be the weak link with Betts moving back to SS.

The biggest point in favor of Arenado is his defense, and it's undeniable the pedigree on stage. Arenado won a GG at 3B from 2013-2022, a truly monstrous run of dominance, marking him as perhaps one of the greatest 3B to ever play the game. Max is not a defensive wizard by contrast.

to which I would retort that Muncy has also had key hits in big moments. He got the scoring started in NLCS Game 1 vs the Mets, and had a Win Probability Added (WPA) of 0.2, the exact same as Arenado. Muncy is the clear choice offensively in the face of the former's decline.
