Stunning views of this magnificent Peregrine Falcon at Clevedon yesterday! 😍
I only looked up because I heard a Raven calling overhead, and saw the Falcon dive-bombing the Raven! 😮😀🐦

I stopped for a quick beer on my way home tonight and chatted to a fellow imbiber. Born in Turkey. Lived here a long time and proud to pay his taxes. Yes, another fellow Scot who I am delighted to recognise his origins and commitment to our great country.

Consultation just issued on changes to indexation of Feed In Tariffs. Proposal is to move from RPI to CPI. In my view this sets a dangerous precident. A contract is a contract. As a point of principle the Government should not be considering this. www.gov.uk/government/c...

Utterly depressing. No mention of how large the subsidies will be. More money wasted along with the £20bn for the CCS fantasy. Labour well and truly captured by vested interests. Another reason for their ongoing failure. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

It is clear Musk is a dick, but the lack of understanding shown on this is unhelpful to say the least. Energy supply would be associated with Tesla products. If no one is buying them there is not much supply. There are far more pressing issues in needed energy market reform to expend effort on.
Show me you have no idea what you're campaigning about, without telling me you have no idea what you're campaigning about.

Can someone else jump in on this please. If gas is decoupled from renewable generation leading to a fall in electricity wholesale price, what is the effect on CFDs? Generators will be compensated to the level of strike price. AFAIK this comes from electricity bills. What is the net effect?

This is the kind of lunacy you get from the uninformed. Worcester Bosch are desperately trying to catch up on heat pumps having bet the shop on H2. Their major competitors Valliant and Viessman are miles ahead of them. They are the equivalent of Toyota in the EV world who messed up as badly.

This is an incredibly poorly researched article. The industry has been on the case since 2015 launching the Solar Stewardship Initiative in 2021 www.solarstewardshipinitiative.org Participating businesses trace their supply chain back to raw materials to avoid these issues www.ft.com/content/3e26...

Just had a glossy double A4 leaflet through my door from @suewebbermsp.bsky.social Apparently she is an Edinburgh Conservative & Unionist Party MSP. From the communication you wouldn't know as there is no mention of this. Is she just too ashamed or too frightened of owning up to this? I would be.

Thank you John for picking up on the spurious 'National' reporting earlier today. From personal experience things are better than reported, but still a huge amount of work required. A very big thank you for the committed work undertaken & kindness shown by workers at all levels in the Scottish NHS.

Can anyone explain what the Reform candidate in our local council byelection means by 'return schools to knowledge based education'? Also he wants to 'apply a common sense approach' without saying to what. @sturdyalex.bsky.social his complexion would definitely clash with red cords.

Anyone else finding the discussion of the use of Hydrogen contentious even on here? Had AI bots & now a second rate academic wading in whose opinions & ego so fragile they blocked me for expressing mine which are different! Non peer reviewed papers from institutions taken as truth. Heaven help us.

Wow. A serious move towards heat networks. @janrosenow.bsky.social how does this accord with your views on decommissioning and or repurposing the gas grid? Seems events could overtake it.
Dutch Senate has now also approved the bill. With this, proposal now becomes law and Dutch municipalities can put an end to the gas network as the final piece of a coordinated heat transition.
Dutch parliament just voted in favour of a legislative amendment allowing municipalities to phase out the gas network (after a heat transition vision has been adopted for a neighbourhood, and with at least eight years lead time). An important tool.

Will look forward to seeing the results. The worry is this appears to be direct electrical heating without the efficiency gains of a heat pump. It could be expensive to run.

At last someone talking sense about the inevitable. When and how is important. To be acceptable, it should be kept simple. Fuel duty works as the more you drive the more you pay & pay more for a thirsty vehicle. With nuance & equity there will be winners & losers. Best we start the discussion now.
