DEFRA has stated that further details on a reformed SFI offer will be published later this year. But farmers need clarity now.

Farmers feed people and support nature. They cannot run businesses - both big and small - based on last-minute decisions and unclear plans.

Those losing out include small businesses who have less than five hectares and had not previously been able to apply for any environmental support.

These payments are critical to support farmers taking the significant steps required to improve sustainability and support nature.

More than 5000 farmers will be offered extensions worth up to £70m, helping them to keep delivering actions like wildflower margins and hedgerow management

Without this rollover, thousands of farmers would lose financial support risking abandonment of measures that protect nature on farms
