The writers deliver a strong argument for reasonable Americans. But I think that in outlining the importance of this strategic relationship they actually identify the underlying problem: Mr. Trump is giving away critical aspects of US leadership to benefit his dictator buddies in Russia and China.

Burns has said multiple times in in interviews that he sees the American Revolution as “the most important event since the birth of Jesus Christ.” That betrays a set of beliefs that should disqualify him from historical filmmaking. He needs to be done.
