#WomensHistoryMonth fact of the day yesterday I stated that women's History Month originated back in Santa Rosa, California in the 1970's but it goes back even further. March 8th 1857 factory women staged a protest over poor work conditions. 1/2

#BlackHistoryMonth in 1847 at 5 years old Sarah Roberts was the first Black student in an all white Boston school. When her father, Benjamin Roberts Sr. tried to enroll her brother the school expelled Sarah. Benjamin Sr. sued the schools on Sarah's behalf. 1/3

#BlackHistoryMonth fact of the day. Feb 9th 1944 the first Black woman to win to have her own television show was jazz musician Ethel Waters. She was the second black American nominated for an academy award and the first Black woman for the Primetime Emmy Award.

#BlackHistoryMonth fact of the day. The first female Self made millionaire was a Black woman. Madame C.J. Walker made her millions creating a hair care and cosmetics line for Black women. She regularly donated portions of her wealth to the NAACP and was also an activist in her time.

#BlackHistoryMonth fact of the day. Rita Dove is a Black poet. She was the first Black woman appointed as Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress since the creation of the position in 1986. She also is the second black American to receive a Pulitzer Prize For Poetry
